DuPont Interconnect Solutions (ICS) is focused on becoming a preferred partner for customers seeking materials-based solutions to enable market leading technologies for the Automotive Electronics and Electrified Powertrain initiatives as well as it’s vertical and horizontal ecosystems.

The Business Development Leader is tasked with expanding our business reach from traditional material sales to partnering with OEMs, Tier 1s, and new value chain partners to drive market back product innovation while recommending & leading new business models. He/she will investigate core, and adjacent markets in the field of electrification to identify unmet needs and attractive opportunities, deploying a variety of strategies (organic and inorganic) to advance growth within that market segment.

He/she will work closely with the global and regional business/technical teams and will develop, manage and execute the evaluation and driving growth opportunities through our pipeline providing key inputs to the innovative product development and market launch initiatives.

The role is global in scope and involves both travel locally and across the United States approx. 25%+ as the business requires.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:

  • Lead North America Business Development Go-To Market Strategy, and contribute to Global overall strategy in the Automotive Electronics & Electrification industry as well as adjacent and vertical ecosystems

  • Form strong external relationships in the market, including existing and new potential partners as well as an industry network with OEM’s, Tier 1’s and Fabricators.

  • Identify and develop new customer and partners and work with internal and external teams drive business development from ideation to commercialization opportunity

  • Create and organize presentations to various groups internally and externally for both buy-in, customer prioritization and external product promotions

  • Work closely with the Technical, Global Business Development, R&D Strategy, Product Management, and Sales teams to organize the pipeline development and management process.

  • Benchmark best practices and work collaboratively to determine and influence the team’s approach to assessing and seeding product growth opportunities.

  • Investigate, research, and map core and adjacent markets and segments to identify unmet market needs and opportunities

  • Assess both organic and inorganic options that address the opportunities and develop recommendations and optionality related to them.

  • Serve as the strategic partnership leader for relevant business development projects (i.e. new channel partners, Joint Ventures, etc.).

  • Build the business case for new business development programs, including financial and risk assessment models.

  • Determine value propositions for key end use segments; provide and refine Critical To Quality (CTQ’s) assessments for product development.

  • Research competition and competitive offerings; determine competitive advantages and risks; forecast potential competitive responses and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Continually investigate, monitor, and refine Voice of Customer (VOC) through the product development cycle through direct customer engagement.

  • Work closely with regional and global teams to develop and execute market launch plans

  • Contract negotiation and execution in conjunction with the Legal team

  • Engage with Industry and Professional Organizations with the purpose of building regional industry networks

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. plus experience working in technically-oriented businesses

  • At least 10 years work experience in commercially oriented roles, including marketing, business development, sales, or strategy

  • Experience in Automotive and the Electronics / Electrification Industry

  • Proven track record of material qualification(s) for new programs of record, either directly with the transactional customer or downstream partners such as OEMs and Tier 1s

  • Intellectual curiosity coupled with a strong drive towards execution

  • Self-starter and comfortable working with ambiguity

  • Ability to work with and gain alignment across a wide range of functions, departments and cultures in many levels of the organization

  • Prospecting Skills and Professionalism

Required:

  • Willingness to travel approx. 25%+ of the time

  • Highly Qualified Candidates in North America

  • Experience in Automotive and Electronics / Electrification

Desired:

  • MBA degree or equivalent work experience

  • In close proximity to the Metro-Detroit, Michigan area

  • Experience working with international teams and customers a plus

  • Experience in the Electrification Ecosystem (Batteries, Infrastructure, Charging Stations, etc.)

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Early stage innovation experience

The Pay range for this role is $118,370.00 - $186,010.00 Annual

How Base Pay is Determined: DuPont has job leveling frameworks that help organize roles based on progressive levels of responsibility, proficiency and qualifications. Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate. Each individual’s pay is based on a variety of factors, including their role and the associated pay range for that role, their geographic location (i.e., country, state, metropolitan area), as well as their skills, experience, education and certifications, and performance.
