Description

We are on the lookout for a Senior Accountant to join our team in the Financial Services industry, based in Janesville, Wisconsin. The primary function of this role will be to oversee and implement plans for the accounting area in accordance with state and federal regulations, and to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting functions. Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive plans for the accounting area in compliance with regulations and operations.

• Maintain, balance, and reconcile the general ledger and related accounts, including cash accounts and accounts payable.

• Manage fixed assets, lease capitalizations, and prepaid accounts in line with company policy.

• Continually review the accounting team for potential efficiencies, profitability, and productivity improvements.

• Handle month-end close journal entries in the accounting system and prepare financial reports.

• Manage vendors in accounts payable system and maintain accurate vendor records for tax purposes.

• Complete Federal and State required tax returns, with the assistance of tax professionals as needed.

• Assist in the annual budgeting process as requested.

• Assist in annual external audits and regulatory exams.

• Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and complete required annual BSA training.

• Use skills such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, General Ledger management, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and knowledge of Financial Services.

Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role within the Financial Services industry.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.

• Experience with bank reconciliations.

• Solid understanding of the general ledger and journal entries.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with month-end close procedures.

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP accounting software.

• Previous experience in the Financial Services industry is essential.

• Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) is preferred.
