Job Description:

The Patient Care Assistant at Cattails Cottage completes patient care and Appointment Coordinator functions in addition to assisting a designated area with setting goals and ensuring best practice. This individual may assist with referral dispositions to ensure provider referrals are handled appropriately. The Patient Care Assistant will provide day-to-day coordination of a specific area to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the operational functions of the area. The Patient Care Assistant will assist in day-to-day functions for the Cattails Cottage lodging patients including coordinating with volunteers, laundry services and assist in cleaning support.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred/Optional: Diploma or Associate degree as a Medical Assistant or Diploma as a Health Unit Coordinator.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency.

Preferred/Optional: Experience with customer service. Experience as a Medical Assistant, Appointment Coordinator or Health Unit Coordinator.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) awarded by the American Medical Technologists; or Medical Assistant certified (NCMA) awarded by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) recognition will be grandfathered for staff hired prior to 2/15/07, provided certification was obtained by 10/1/07.
