Telesat Lightspeed is a state-of-the-art satellite constellation of highly advanced satellites in low-earth-orbit that will seamlessly integrate with terrestrial networks. The global network will deliver fiber quality throughput anywhere on earth. We are growing quickly and are currently in need of an experienced and professional Training Coordinator to join our team. The Telesat Lightspeed Training Coordinator will work directly with the Lightspeed Segment Teams. This role will report to the Lightspeed Segment Program Delivery Manager in the Program Delivery Office and help drive the Lightspeed Program by ensuring the development of the skills and knowledge for our employees. The ideal candidate has previous experience as a training developer, trainer, and is enthusiastic about being part of a team that is diverse and at the top of their game. The Lightspeed Training Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Program Delivery Office and technical segment leaders to carry out their daily tasks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assessing training needs: This role involves determining the Lightspeed program training needs, including but not limited to on-boarding new staff, process training, tools training, and product training

  • Developing training programs: Work with the Lightspeed PDO and segment teams to create an engaging training program. This process will include developing a curriculum, designing training materials, and identifying appropriate training methodologies.

  • Delivering training: In this role, you will oversee and conduct training sessions while also providing guidance to trainers and facilitating "train the trainer" sessions. You may also be involved in hiring external trainers to deliver programs. Regardless of who delivers the training, it is your responsibility to ensure the trainer educates effectively and the trainees have the essential resources to succeed, this includes editing and managing Training session recordings and material

  • Manage Training Center : Offer guidance and oversee the selection and integration of Learning Management Systems, content development tools, content management tools, and Learning Experience platforms. Collect training metrics, ensuring efficient delivery methods, and lead continuous improvement methods

  • Monitoring industry trends : Stay up-to-date on best practices and industry trends to create and initiate employee training programs effectively

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, human resources, education or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering training within technical environments and effectively engaging technical experts with new material.

  • Two to five (2-5) years of practical business experience in developing and delivering training solutions

  • Knowledge and experience in contemporary adult learning, such as course design, instructional techniques, student coaching

  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Intermediate skill level MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  • Aptitude and desire to learn new tools and techniques quickly

  • Demonstrated success in developing learning curriculum

  • Positive attitude (solution-oriented and ability to deal with ambiguity)

  • Professionalism and takes direction well; organized, displays sound judgment, has solid problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast pace, changing environment

  • Certification in training and/or organizational development an asset

  • Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required)

Decision Making and Supervision

  • This role supports Lightspeed Program team via the Program Delivery Office. As the training expert you will be expected to make informed recommendations to the Lightspeed PDO leadership

  • This role has no direct reports, but may work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, contracts, legal, and commercial teams

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are typical of an office environment.

  • Occasional travel, including international travel, is possible.

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
